Hamburg School Astrology

The Hamburg School. Precision Astrology.

Uranian astrology uses the 90° and 45° symmetry dials to reveal midpoint structures invisible to conventional chart reading. TNPs, solar arc, and real-time transit activation — the same tools used by professional Uranian astrologers worldwide.

How Hamburg School Astrology Works

The technical principles behind the Uranian method.

90° Dial

Symmetry Principle

The 90° dial compresses the zodiac into 4 equal quadrants. Any two points equidistant from a third point form a planetary picture (midpoint). At 0° orb = exact activation.

TNPs

Transneptunian Planets (TNPs)

Eight orbital points postulated by Alfred Witte and the Hamburg School. Mean orbital periods 262–740 years. Used for their interpretive and predictive value.

Midpoint Trees

Midpoint Trees

A midpoint tree lists all planetary pairs whose arithmetic midpoint equals a selected point within orb. Reveals complex activation patterns invisible in the natal wheel.

Solar Arc

Solar Arc Directions

The Sun advances ~1° per year from birth. Solar arc directions advance every natal point by the same arc — revealing when natal potentials become activated.

Planetary Pictures

Planetary Pictures

A = B/C: planet A at the midpoint of B and C. The Hamburg School catalogued hundreds of specific planetary picture interpretations (Alfred Witte, Reinhold Ebertin, Friedrich Sieggrün).

The 90° dial folds the 360° zodiac into 4 equal segments of 90°. This compresses all cardinal (0°), fixed (90°), and mutable (180°/270°) signs to the same dial degree, making symmetrical midpoint relationships visible at a glance.

The Solar Arc = current Sun longitude − natal Sun longitude. Every natal planet is advanced by this arc to produce a “directed” chart that maps potential activations for the current year.
A midpoint tree lists all planetary pairs whose arithmetic midpoint (average longitude) equals a selected planet within a given orb. It reveals the combinatorial structure around that planet.
Western astrology reads aspects (angular separations) between planets in the 360° wheel. Hamburg School works with the 90° symmetry dial and midpoint arithmetic — revealing planetary pictures that standard aspect orbs miss entirely.
